Kewdale Welshpool Industrial Hub

The industrial hub in Welshpool, Kewdale and the edge of Carlisle is a key manufacturing area in our state as well as a premier freight and distribution centre that employs many local people.

I make it a priority to stand up for these jobs and industry in Federal Parliament and regularly bring Prime Minister Tony Abbott and other Cabinet Ministers to the hub to see its operations, innovations and strategic importance to WA.

Over a long period of time I have made many connections in the Kewdale-Welshpool industrial and rail hub.  I started my own business in Anvil Way off Division Street, Welshpool in 1988 and having worked in the air-conditioning, heating, ventilation and refrigeration sector for over 25 years.

Drawing on this experience I  played a leading role role in raising the impact of the carbon tax equivalent levy on the refrigerant gas sector in the hub and its flow on effects to consumers – an issue which had been overlooked by many in the response to the Labor Government’s Carbon Tax.  The repeal of the Carbon tax has greatly eased the strain on the industry and consumers, who paid for it whenever purchasing refrigerated goods.

Crucial to the future of the industrial precinct are the two major road upgrade projects planned by the Coalition Government:  Gateway WA and the Perth Freight Link which will upgrade the roads around Kewdale and Welshpool and provide a new direct link to Fremantle Port.
