The Morrison Government is committed to providing modern, equitable and long-lasting facilities for grassroots sporting clubs through to the elite level. That’s why we have committed $16.25 million towards the construction of the WA State Football Centre.
We know that football is one of the popular sports in WA with more than 230,000 West Australians playing the world game, and this project has been a key goal of the West Australian football community for the better part of the last decade, with our support Football West will finally have a state-of-the-art home at Maniana Reserve in Queens Park.
This is critical because the recent success of the Perth Glory in the A-League and W-League means more and more young people in the West are signing up to their local clubs.
The feats of our Matildas alone are helping to drive an increase in female football participation in WA of 64 per cent over the last decade. We want to make sure that the local talent pools, which have already produced players like Sam Kerr remain strong.
